Broken screen on Xiaomi Mi 5

Looked at my Mi5 yesterday to find a nice star shaped shatter radiating out from the fingerprint reader. It's only 8 months old.

I had a look on AliExpress and a genuine replacmeent with fingerprint reader is over €100. I only paid €200 for the phone originally.

I need to decide if I replace screen or phone. I'm in NYC in the USA this Friday, and I'm wondering if that opens up options for me. Anything I'm ordering online would need to be fast delivery.

I'd either call or visit a phone repair shop, on occasions they're cheaper than buying the replacement part yourself.

If that's too expensive, I'd buy another Xiaomi from Asia and get it shipped here to avoid any issues in the States. There are a few decent options around the 200e mark.

It doesn't state it there, but the fingerprint scanner and home button will not work on that screen.
