Squeaky Converse

My new converse are making loud squeaky noises from the heels.
Does this quickly go away or should I send them back?
I work in an office and sound like someone who just got dragged out of the sea when I walk around :(

Are you sure it's the converse? Maybe you have squeaky feet?

I guess that's possible too

You'll get that with rubber soles. My Vans often do the same thing. It might also be moisture from your feet (ew) which is making them squeak a bit too on the insides, so you could try insoles and see how you get on. They'll probably wear down soon enough and not squeak anymore after a while.

Could also be the tongue rubbing on the inside of the lace part. I had this with my last addidas. Simple fix dab of Vaseline either side of the tongue on the inside where meets the laces and rub in.

    Noise gone

Just bought new converse too, they're quite stiff when new and need to be broken in a bit. After a few wears, mine aren't squeaking anymore and are just as comfy as my other pairs.

Send them back, you should be entitled to walk around in squeak free runners. Let us know what they say...

Discovered it's not just the heels. If I curl my toes it makes the same noise. Must be something to do with the insoles or compression of the sole. I'm going to try lacing in some talcum power under the insoles tonight. It won't beat me.

Talk about first world problems :D

Any converse I've had have always squeaked. I thought it was me until I heard another girl in the office complaining about it too :D

Mine are like that too, and the new types seem to be worse than the old ones. Kind of annoying if you wear them to work. I've had mine for a while now, no improvement.

I sorted it! 90% of it anyway.
I just sprinkled johnsons baby powder into them and shook it about and it got rid of most of it. The little bit of noise that's left seems normal and doesn't stand out. I'd say I'll stop noticing it altogether once I stop focusing on it.

I think the noise was coming from the waxy coating on the insoles that squeaks when there's friction and the powder just takes the edge off it. Not really sure but it worked anyway!Happy out now :)
