Citizenship application from NI

    Hi guys,

My US wife is intending to apply for Irish citizenship this October. Living in NI with me from Sep 14, we were married in Belfast on October 16th 2014. I was born in NI, and am a dual UK/Irish citizenship. We have lived in Belfast since this date, so she should be eligible to apply using marriage & 3 years reckonable residence.  Is this true?

Can anyone give advice on what documents we need to supply, and if we should obtain a PSNI certificate to support the application? Much of the documents stipulated in the form assume residence in the ROI; what differences, if any, should I be aware of when applying from NI?

I have tried to obtain legal help with our application in Belfast, but firms seem to be unwilling to advise on ROI immigration procedures.

    Thanks in advance

    Section 15 A http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/INCA%20Dec2014.pdf/Files/INCA%20Dec2014.pdf

"are married to each other, have been married to each other for a period of not less than 3 years, and are living together, as attested to by affidavit submitted by the citizen to the Minister in the prescribed form."

"had, immediately before the date of the application, a period of one year’s continuous residence
    in the island of Ireland,
    (f) had, during the 4 years immediately preceding that period, a total residence in the island of Ireland amounting to 2 years,
    (g) intends in good faith to continue to reside in the island of Ireland after naturalisation,"

I would guess you provide what evere proof is required re living in the island of Ireland.

    http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Form 8 Ver 5.5 Aug 16.pdf/Files/Form 8 Ver 5.5 Aug 16.pdf

The form note the questions 6.1 and 6.2 your wife ticked yes to 6.2

I would doubt any solicitor in NI would have the experience in such applications.
