08 Corolla radio upgrade from newer Corolla

So I have a 08 Corolla. I'd like to replace the built in radio/stereo with one from a newer Corolla which still looks built-in but which has an Aux Input. Not too worried about anything else really.

How do I find out from what year the Aux Inputs started coming as standard?

    Thanks.

2010 I think. You can just buy an aux in/iPod in from Toyota or eBay or wherever though.

I have one actually that should work it uses the CD port on the stereo.

    Great stuff, Truckermal.
    What's type is it?
    How much is it?
    Is it difficult to install?
Where are you based? I'm in Dublin.

Piece of cake to install. You've just gotta take the radio out which isn't too hard once you have instructions.

Does your Radio have the option of a CD changer? Its not difficult to install either... If it works a few Bob will cover it!

Yeah, they all have that input on the back IIRC.

Is this basically how to remove the stereo? Haven't done it before.

Might be wrong, but I seem to remember the radios I took out of Corollas being bolted in with 4 bolts. Don't remember them pulling straight out like that.

In case anyone else wants to try this it works perfectly with the cable below!

I think you'll like Universal Car SD Aux-in MP3 CD Player Input adapter for Toyota Camry Corolla RAV4 Lexus. Add it to your wishlist!

This plugs into the only empty socket in the back of the radio, the cd changer socket. There is space for the cable to drop down on the passenger's side and come out just to the right of the passenger's feet. There's a small open compartment for the box on the cable to sit in just here (I'm going to keep it there with blutack or something) and then the cable reaches just beyond the handbrake.

Exactly what I was looking for.
