It's a very straight forward course with doglegs on a lot of holes. If you drive it well you will get chances to score. We have a new pin system, so note the letter on each 9 to know where pin is placed on green.

If playing the Orchard 9 try to keep the ball in play on the first 5 holes.

Nice one, when you say letter on each 9, what do you mean?

On the sign beside the pro shop they will show a letter which will indicate which pin position are in play on the day for each 9. Each green is divided into 9 areas so 9 letters, it will help you with distance. The River/Meadow 18 is pretty long and the Orchard is shorter but a little less forgiven off the tee. The Orchard/Meadow 18 is actually the hardest 18 for scoring.

Although it seems straight forward, it's not. It's a second shot golf course, you need to hit the right layer of the green and not leave tough downhill or sidehill putts. The mix and variability of the three nines is a great challenge

    River.
1 - par 3 play it as you see it
2 - second shot layup just past the tree or over the stream. Tough green, must leave an uphill putt.
3 - tough drive with OB left. Just left of the bunker is a good line. Approach shot to right side of green will kick left
4 - par 5. If you are long you won't need a driver. You simply must hit the fairway here so an iron will do. Again a tough green with big slopes from back to front.
5 - straight forward par 5. Long drive means you can go for it.
6 - par three often into the wind. Consider an extra club
7 - Good driving hole. Straight down the middle means a short iron to a flat receptive green
8 - drivable par 4 if you cut the corner. Otherwise aim for the group of trees on the other side of the fairway to leave a wedge approach
9 - tough par three. This green is a little slower than the rest

    Meadow.
1 - fairway wood or hybrid towards fairway bunker will leave a short iron approach. Flag placement here will determine a lot. Hit the right tier
2 - long par 5 that seems to always play into the wind. Favour left side of fairway with drive and layup. Massive green sloping from back to front
3 - dog leg par 5. Trouble right. Fairway wood or iron to centre of fairway will give you room to choose your layup.
4 - index one with internal OB left. Drive or fairway wood to corner will leave long iron to a very sloping green with water right. Favour the left side of the green.
5 - long par Three, flat green
6 - my nemesis. Aim at the 150 marker with your drive. This green is very tricky sloping right to left.
7 - dog leg left par 4. If long aim over the trees which will leave a short iron to flat green. If not Long, play safe towards bunker on opposite side of fairway
8 - par three big hollow on right of green. Favour left side of green.
9 - requires a long drive to right side of fairway. If you don't hit the fairway, do not go for it...Just layup to within 100.

    Orchard.
1- short par 4. Ain over the trees with a good drive
2 - Needs a straight drive. You won't see the bottom of the pin for your approach. Trust your clubbing distance
    3 - short easy par 3
4 - aim over the bunker with your drive to catch the slope on the fairway for a good run out
5 - favour left side of fairway. Second shot is key here, green slopes back to front.
6 - uphill par three. Bail out is right side of green, but be brave and aim over the front bunker. Flat green when you hit it
7 - Drive to right side of tree to leave 230ish to green. Left bunker is a good miss on the approach if you go for it. If not, layup to left side of fairway to open up green
8 - decent driving hole. Favour right side of fairway and take an extra club on the approach
9 - tough finishing hole. Drive to left side of fairway. Approach will be blind but look for red circle in the back trees to see where the green is. The miss is right side because tough bunkers left

Hope you play well, but either way let us know how you get on

Great analysis above, can't add anything to that.

You are playing River/Meadow tomorrow so good luck.

Cheers for that guide Tom, spot on, and used it on every hole, course playing well, no run on fairways which is to be expected, some nice long holes and plenty of thinking involved in every shot, especially off tee. Thanks again.
