Joining CAI from CPA Canada

Has anyone joined CAI as a reciprocal member from CPA Canada (formerly Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants)? I will be in Ireland for at least two years and currently deciding whether I would like to pursue the ACA designation in Ireland. From my understanding, members from CPA Canada would have to write a tax and law exam in Ireland before being eligible for membership in Ireland. Does anyone have any experience with this process and could shed some light?
I'm not sure if I should pursue membership, especially having to write a few more exams and the earliest I will complete these requirements is late 2018 due to the timing of the exam/course offerings.
