I suppose a lot of us can't advise unless we have had to make a claim, cos thats only when you find out if your insurer is good or not.

I usually go with the cheapest, but I have never had a claim so I can't advise who is good and who isn't.

    Laya seem reasonable to me.

We had to make a claim years ago with Multitrip.com. They did try to wrangle out of it, and there were a lot of conditions to claiming but we stuck to exactly what we were meant to do and did get reimbursed. I think with any of the insurance companies they'll chance their arms and you have to be on the ball but the biggest thing to check is the excess and have a quick look over exclusions if you'll have a lot of valuables with you etc.

We were still out of pocket after the claim but on the whole don't have any major complaints about Multitrip and have used them since as well.

I have taken out 2 consecutive year long policies with AA, think they cost about €60 each time for a year multi-trip. I have been pleasantly surprised at how good they were when it came to making a claim - on each policy I ended up having to claim for something that cost more than what I'd paid for the policy so I was delighted to have it in place. I got a digital camera screen repaired when I had somehow smashed it without noticing (so I wasn't even able to tell them when exactly it happened) and I had expensive sunglasses replaced when the wind blew them off my face! I sort of expected to meet resistance on the claims just because you always hear about insurance companies being ruthless but both were paid up with no fuss at all. I do recommend paying the extra few quid for an excess waiver - meant I got paid the full value of what I claimed for each time.
