Email problem

    I use an eircom.net email; my broadband comes from Virgin Media. All has been OK for many years but since last weekend my home email has stopped working. Virgin Media say they can't help since I am using an eircom (Eir) server (mail2.eircom.net for incoming and smtp.upcmail.ie for outgoing). Eir are uninterested as I don't have an account with them. A pop-up keeps asking for user name and password - that's as far as it gets even when I provide these! Anyone with a suggestion?
