    Hello,

Does anyone know if you can be self employed and employed.

I started my own business back in March and its been going well, however, I only work from May too October. I work from home as a consultant and generally work 2-3 days a week. Am I allowed to work as an employee for another company for the other days and when the im off from October to April ?

There is an opportunity to take on additional work with an employer while working from home.

Anyone any ideas or advice ? Thanks

You can be self employed as well as employed. The main issue would be your tax return- you have to make sure all your income is declared and you pay the correct amount of tax over the financial year. There may also be prsi implications so check that.
Loads of people do both. Trying to think of example without saying too much about where I work!

Yes it is done regularly and it should not be an issue or hold you back. You can have both jobs at the same time.

Most people would employ an accountant anyway for the self-employed tax returns and they can insure your tax bill is correct.
