I am currently waiting for P1 Auditing paper results , then I will write 3 P2 papers in April.

At the moment I am working for a Chartered Accountant firm, I would very much appreciate if someone can suggest me how to gain more weight on my Resume and land into a good job.

Move to industry? Do Ctax? Try for big 4... Is it easy to get that? Any other suggestions... I am really worried as I have small kids and I am only earning just above minimum pay at the moment.

I would really appreciate any suggestions/ help

I know this sounds obvious but getting your professional qualification is your best chance of getting a better paid job.

Get in touch with a recruitment agency and see what way the market is looking in terms of what's more steadily available, has more security and is paying better at the moment.

I agree that obtaining your designation should be the priority, as that will help boost your resume for potential employers. You should take the time to reflect on your ultimate career goal. Moving into Big 4 for the sake of moving into Big 4 is not going to help you, as you need to have a purpose and employers are attracted to those whose goals align with what the company can offer.

I would suggest reaching out to your network to see if there is anyone who may be willing to take you out for a coffee to share their career progression and experiences. Perhaps something will resonate with you and help bring some clarity with your decision. I would also suggest reaching out to your local CPA body to see if they have formal mentorship programs available where you would be paired up with an experienced member of the profession.

    Thank you.
I might stick to the existing job till I complete CPA and get qualified

    Hi Crimon,
    Thank you for that.
Yes, I might just stick to the existing job and look for better options once I am qualified.
Any other suggestions ..please let me know.
