I don't think they're that stunning to be fair. They're an awful price and still a Ford at the end of it!

I'm not anti ford before anyone asks. They make some great stuff.

One of the most overpriced vehicles going. Mental money for what they are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 73,520 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

I'm guessing it's supposed to be a halo model for them.

Wildly expensive for what it is brand new.

I'd imagine depreciation will be horrific on them

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

    Assuming they sell any.

Well, they've put plates on 35 of them this year. Although, they have 41 dealerships, so....

That new Renault Koleos is horribly expensive. At least the Edge has some status.

Is the Koleos not just a rebadged (and for some reason more expensive) X-Trail?

Exactly and the Koleos isn't even a 7 seater!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,363 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

    Neither is the Edge.

I'm not disagreeing with you. The X-Trail 7 seater isn't a proper 7 seater either. The 3rd row are for occasional use, I wouldn't like to spend too much time for them.

The edge starts at a mental €55k...the Renault €35k...so the Ford is in a different stratosphere. Seen a few in the flesh and it looks fine but no way a €60k vehicle. Utter madness

And the Ford Edge is an American thing based on the Mondeo platform...it's not like it's based on a Porsche either.

60k for a fairly standard SUV that looks fairly meh compared to other SUVs is pretty bold marketing by ford.

Interesting how they "sold" just two in August and none in July for the 172 plate. Honestly, this car is about 20k overpriced, the Ford badge has no credibility here. Buyers arent idiots

But the Renault Koleos is an excellent car especially if you just want a big car with five seats which is what some people want. I would say the Renault badge and the Keleos have a better reputation than the new Ford Edge. That's not saying its bad just that its way too expensive for a Ford.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Why not just get the 5 seater Nissan X trail then a car the Koleos is based on but cheaper.

Must be six months plus since I seen one on the roads. Safe to say it’s as a big flop here as it’s certifiable list price.
Wonder will they see sense and cut the price by €15k or let it die away as it inevitably will. I’m sure it’s very popular in the US where the price is no doubt realistic.

That was the consensus opinion from day 1 re. the price of it here.
Rented one in the states a few years ago and it was great, but they probably went for half the price over there.

Way too overpriced but it's a good looking car in my opinion anyway.

I think the Koleos is one of the nicest looking cars on the road. Other may think different of course and it's all down to individual taste. I've a Ford Kuga at the moment and I'm thinking of changing it for a Koleos next year.
The Edge is also lovely looking but as said already it's way over priced

Rented an edge (titanium) in the states last month. 3.6L petrol.

It was fine for it's required purpose - a bit of space for luggage. Gearbox was horrible and the performance wasn't great.

    50k here? No thanks.

    +1
Had one for almost a month in Boston late last year.... grand yoke but not vastly better than a kuga to any extent....decent looking alright though

Saw one today, very cool looking.

It's Toyota landcruiser business class money though, it should be around 50 k IMO, kia sorrento top spec diesel automatic is 50k and Ford Edge is nicer.

Ford are infinitely better than Renault but the koleos is nice.

It’s actually €55k- and that’s for the entry level model!

    55k !!

Entry level Audi Q5 is less than that and a host of others from other mainstream manufacturers that are far better options (Santa FE, Sorrento, etc.)

The Edge is at least 15 k over priced.

Yes easily. When ford get it wrong they do so spectacularly. They’re essentially a value brand with some very half baked notions of upmarket sales.
The Vignales and Edge being a case in point. Premium money for fairly average non premium products.
Also notice some of the pricing on mainstream models like Fiesta and focus look increasingly high. Dropping the 5 year warranty was another sneaky move. As a maker they appear rather cynical towards the buying public and don’t offer anything above and beyond to entice buyers. The styling is another huge let down. The latest Ka is an affront to the fun models that went before. The fiesta is a step backwards in style too compared to the rather stylish 2008 model.
Don’t mean to have an anti ford rant here but I think they’ve lost direction big time.

It’s awful looking. Looks like a beached whale on wheels. Read it’s review on What Car and they praised it a lot so it’s a shame they couldn’t get the styling right.

Spotted a review for a 1.5d ST line auto which was 37k on the road. Madness

A buddy just got a new old model focus st line. He reckons the deal he got will insulate him come trade in time. I dunno the numbers but I agree with him & others, the new focus isn't wonderful looking.

Outgoing car is still very attractive especially in ST trim.

I don't know. They looked like mutton dressed as lamb and just cheaper the ST brand in my opinion.

If that's their best in class god love them! Though at half the price of here with US offers it no doubt has appeal.
