Has anyone here bought a used watch from Japan?

Was it an easy shipping/paying process? Was it posted or did you use a courier? How long did it take to arrive?

I'm looking at a couple of vintage Longines there and they seem to be good value, hopefully there is nothing lost in translation.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I got a watch shipped from there once, about 3 years ago. Bought off ebay. It arrive via the post man, signed for delivery.
Took about 10 days if I remember correctly.

Did not get hit for customs.

I bought a new Casio Protrek from Rakuten in late 2014, took a little longer than a week to get here by EMS post (was delivered by An Post) and no duty either. Part of my order confirmation looked like this:

    本メールはショップにて行ったご注文情報や送料などの確定・変更について、楽天市場
    のサーバに到達した翌日に送信される自動配信メールです。ショップからお送りする
    ご注文内容に関する連絡と重複する場合がございますこと、ご了承ください。

but thank God for google translate :) Otherwise payment and shipping was a piece of cake.

I've heard Japan is a good spot for second hand watches as they tend to look after them very well....customs seems to be the luck of the draw by the sounds of it...

There are a good few of shops over there selling nothing but second hand watches. High end, low end, mechanical, quartz....you name it.
But I found the prices to be high to be honest, not many bargains to be had.

    Any opinions on this? https://buyee.jp/item/yahoo/auction/g233227666?lang=en&rc=yaucc_sp

The date isn't working, but I think it's worth a gamble. I've been looking for one of these for a while.

Buyee is a decent service but the price you win at is not the final price. There are a bunch of fees and extra shipping from the Buyee warehouse. Best option is to make a few purchases and when they arrive at the Buyee warehouse have them repackage it for you as just one.

Also look at early finish and automatic extension, if someone bids just as the auction is ending another 5 minutes is added and this can go on for quite a while with some auctions.

Also bet on paying import duty.

Would I use the service again?

Sure, and it was fun, the prices looked good and when all was said and done I saved a few quid, just not as much as I initially thought.

Went for €174, not to me though.
