Query regarding dangerous mains connection point for vulnerable client

My mother (aged 77) is currently trying to locate a water leak within her property boundary. This involves her having to walk a distance of approx 400 metres each way and several times a day to turn on and off the mains connection point. This point is on a dangerous crossroads which is frequented by heavy traffic. Access is also further complicated as this mains connection point is difficult to reach and my mother is required to go down on her knees in wet and cold conditions. Is there any possibility that this mains connection point can be changed/moved so that my aging mother doesn't have to walk such a distance or risk her health and safety when trying to access the existing mains connection point location?  I am unable to be of physical assistance to her as I live abroad and the Local Authority have advised to contact Irish Water. Could you please help. Thank you in advance. Yours faithfully

    Hi there,

    Thanks for your query.

If there is a leak on the external supply pipe to your mother's property, she may be eligible for our First Fix Scheme. We will be happy to investigate this further and you can read more about First Fix here.

If you would like to be her point of contact, would you mind sending us a private message with the following information:

    - Full Name,
    - Contact Number and
    - Address.

We would advise deleting your name and number from this public post as it is your personal data.

Please bear in mind, however, that we will not be able to move the stopcock/connection point as part of the First Fix Scheme. For this to be done, your mother will have to apply for a new connection.

You can find more about new connections here.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Kind Regards,
    Siobhan

Thank you so much for your response Siobhan, it's very much appreciated.  I'll get my mother to call Irish Water to sign up for the First Fix Free Leak. Regarding the new connection application, the Irish Water site asks for a map location of the site, yet it doesn't explain what that is or where to get this map? Can you advise please? Nor does it provide an option to make an application for a new connection when there's already an existing connection but one that needs changing because of the problems/issues I've previously outlined. Thanks so much again. Kind regards, Colette
