Hi, my son is in 4th class in St Mary's BNS at the moment and im trying to decide what secondary school to send him to. My daughter has just started 1st year in St Joseph's and is very happy but I can't decide whether to go with LCC or CBS for my son. Does anyone have any experience with either of these 2 schools? I know im a year early but I want to do my homework on both schools and make the best choice for my son. He's not sporty but he is a hard worker in school. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Go to the open evenings next year, you've just missed them I think they were in Oct/Nov. The BNS is on the list of prioritized schools for enrollment however, only for the first child in the family as far as I know. I have no personal experience of either except that my son is in 5th so I'm researching too.

Be careful with LCC as your daughter is in St Joseph’s I was in the same situation a number of years ago and didn’t get my son into LCC as the first in family did not go there. At the time the principal of his primary school said to me “not all children in a household these days are from the same family” ( and I thought I was well up!!) so my advice to you is put him down as first in family and have the argument later if needs be. We fulfilled all of the other criteria at the time so would have got him in only I was too honest!
I have heard v mixed reports about CBS and really don’t know anyone who was v happy with it. Ended up going outside the area in the end.
