I have seen posts here before where users have been able to say how many of a particular model of car are still on the road. Can you tell me where i can find this information?

Pity it doesn't go back before the noughties. It would be interesting to read how many of what classics are still knocking about.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Are those beep beep stats not for new registrations/imports each year since 2007. Which is nowhere near the same thing as the number of cars on the road in any particular year.

To determine the number of cars "on the road" you could ask Motorcheck or one of the other companies that has access to anonymised registration data. There is a poster Motorcheck on boards who I believe represents that company.

i know when the model was first released so i just went through each year since then and counted all the new registrations and used imports.

I don't think motorcheck has been active on boards for a good few years.

You can see a list of every car model that did the NCT in 2016 here: http://www.rsa.ie/Documents/NCT/Make%20Model%20data%202016.pdf

Unfortunately vehicle registration data in this country is not very consistent, so there's a lot of useless crap in there like "OTHER" for the make and model.

There's also this site, based on that data: https://public.tableau.com/profile/idiro.analytics#!/vizhome/NCT2016Top20MakesResults/NCT2016-20MostPopularMakes

It only shows the 20 most popular makes.

That's a really interesting website, thanks for sharing. I didn't realise how few there was of certain makes and models.

12,807 Volkswagens sold this year, only 1,659 Volvos and 1,264 Hondas. 152 Subaru. Interesting that as popular as Toyota are with 12,256, only 285 of those are the Prius. There's over 3,000 Dacias this year too...
