Hurricane Irma-Florida holiday in 2 weeks

We are due to fly to Florida in 2 weeks time. We had planned to drive from Orlando down the east coast (west palm beach, ft lauderdale, Miami) to key west and I have hotels and car hire booked (refundable rates) Should I rejig the trip and maybe head north out of Orlando to maybe savannah, Atlanta and south to New Orleans? Florida would still be my 1st choice but if it is in a complete mess then I can look at other options. I've been looking at news reports and some are saying with the exception of key west damage is minimal but other reports make out the entire state has been floored. I have never been anywhere in the aftermath of a hurricane so don't know what to expect. We would be staying and socialising in the touristy areas if that makes any difference.

There's damage all the way along both coasts, but aside from the Keys, things will probably be somewhat normal in a couple weeks' time, at least for visitors. I'd probably plan to skip the Keys, though; they took the brunt of the storm and may not recover for a while, and odds are your hotels there may be damaged or uninhabitable anyway.

Florida itself will be fine, and almost everyone will have power back by the end of this week.
I would check on the Keys, perhaps next week, to check that your accomodation is still available and has power (you really, really do NOT want to be without AC...)
