Pubs in Phibsboro

I'm a blow-in looking for a new place to be able to have a couple of quiet midweek pints in Phibsboro (maybe also down to Dorset Street).

What is John Doyles, The Bohemian, The Hut like?

Is The Hut the best bet? The Back Page would be perfect but am looking a bit closer to NCR.

Have been told The Red Parrot is definitely not suited for this - anyone have any experience of going there?

    Thanks!

The hut is OK. Walk up to hedigans or gravedigger pub best by a mile.

The Back Page has a good selection of craft and macro beer, it's own house beers are deffo worth a look.

Porterhouse has decent food and drinks too.

Dorset St hasn't much going on, but T O'Brennan's on Dominick Street will be right on the Luas line when it opens, small quiet exclusively craft pub too.

McGough's aka The Bohemians is a fine aul style boozer. Went into Doyles for the first time in years and it's a bit of kip to be honest.

On the other end of the scale The Whitworth is trendy and has decent food, plus a large smoking area. Brian Boru across the road is a grand spot too.

The Hut would be my preference of those pubs clustered around Doyle's Corner. Quiet and nice staff.

    +1 for the Gravediggers.

If you walk down to Smithfield you have the Cobblestone & Frank Ryans also which are both nice :)
