Hi James. My name is Mark and I play with a group called Ukulele Tuesday. We meet up once a week for a packed out session in The Stag's Head. It's an informal session, where most people in the room are playing some kind of instrument.

In the interest of full disclosure, this is a cajon setup rather than a full kit setup. At least for the time being it is anyway.

You probably guessed by the name that most of us play ukulele, but it's not what you're probably picturing. We're more Rage Against The Machine than Jason Mraz. There is a core band going through the PA leading the session, with an overhead projector with lyrics and chords for the general public to play/sing along with. The crowd have copies of the book we use (213 songs) and they call out a page number and we give it a go. Like a jukebox basically. We also pick and choose what we feel like playing.

This core group of players that lead it do rehearse once a week. We also do some corporate gigs, if we want to, and are available. We've played everything from tiny pub snugs, to crowds of thousands, to Whelans to global tech company office parties. The gigs vary a lot. Mostly, the weekly session in The Stag's Head is our thing though. Some of us have been doing it for about five years now.

Anyway, recently our main percussionist has emigrated and our other percussionist is not around due to work scheduling conflicts, so I've been filling in on cajon, and I'm no percussionist. So we need to find a percussionist or drummer (who doesn't mind using a cajon and percussion instruments instead of a kit).

Look us up and you can see the kind of thing we get up to. If it's something you'd be interested in coming along for a jam, let me know.
