See this somewhere else and thought it was interesting.

Do they have a say in picking the team or is the managers word final?

Do they decide the panel and the manager picks the team? Is it one man one vote?

Who decides who plays in what position?

If the manager wants to reposition players during the game does he have to ask then selectors?

If you want to make a sub do the selectors have to vote?

What does a selector actually do at training? Just watch?

If a selector says he saw a really good player at a match can he be called in or do all the selectors agree?

Are not all selectors coaches? If not do they have to be at every training or only the trial games?

Would it not make sense to have a senior selector involved with the u21s to keep an eye on the players

Very hard to say. All depends on personalities of those involved. You would imagine its a group decision about the squad and team and I highly doubt any county squad is picked by selectors/coaches with manager then picking the team.
A manager would be making decisions with help of their selectors.
Again on training all depends on dynamics of the people involved. Some selectors would actively be involved in the training while others would be observing.

A lot of work goes into be a selector too I imagine same as with a manager/player. How they do full time jobs on top of it is amazing

They would be going non stop from Late Oct/Nov. Prob working 4/5 days a week on prep, match planning, scouting players etc

Selector is a bit of an outdated term from the 80s and before hand when county teams were picked on a more or less one man one vote approach - trying to get as many of your club men as possible on a team.
Really they're assistant managers in general nowadays.
In most intercounty setups its not a vote. The manager will decide on and have final word on everything but in general he'll consult with his coaches/selectors/physios. At training most managers & "selectors" will have their work done and its just a watching bried letting the coach/physio get on with it.

The selectors would give their opinions on club players and would go to some games to watch players for the manager.

In general it wouldn't come to a vote but a consensus decision. If there was'nt agreement - the manager will be making the decision.
