The main dealer key probably doesn't cost much more than €200 and comes coded for the car already.

I know but I was looking it up online and found people were able to reprogramme a key for the car. The key will only cost 30-50e, I was hoping someone has done it before or could help me to do it...

You could could just buy one and try to reprogram it yourself using various "DIY" guides on the net.

Then as a "Plan B" if you can't manage it, give the guys at Car Key a call and I'm sure they will program it for you for a fee.

I rang them before for help programming an Audi Key, but I managed to do it myself in the end.

Just be sure to get an identical key (search by part nr)

Don't mean to be smart but please point us out to a proper DIY that will allow us to make BMW E90 keys for next to nothing

That must include a DIY for the cutting off the blade to match the lock, cut if from the correct code, not trying to duplicate an old blade, adding the key to the CAS etc

    Cheers

Dont know, just a suggestion. Do your own research.

Anyway, afaik the e90 just has the fob, you dont need a blade to start the engine.

In my case (old Audi switch blade key) i bought a complete used key off eBay, bought a blank blade, go it cut and replaced it myself, googled some guides to reprogram the transponder... and just as i was about to lose hope and give up, i got it to work.

Did the same with an old ford key.
