    Hi all,
I'm at my wits end trying 4 digit codes to sync my new horizon box to my 1 year old sharp tv(L49CFF6001K) Just for volume and on/off.
    Anyone have any magic codes?
    Cheers

Your problem with Sharp is the name Sharp is simply a badge name as Sharp do not make tv's anymore. The Tv is made by a company called Vestel so it mite be possible to do a search for a vestel code or a lot of Vestel tvs work with a code for philips tvs so worth a try searching for philips codes too.

    Thanks
I contacted sharp yesterday and got an answer this morning.
The tv uses RF and the horizon remote is IR
    Real first world problem

Means nothing the remote should work

    1. Turn on your TV and switch off the Horizon TV box.

    2. Press "VOL-" on your remote control and keep the button pressed; press the source button at the same time (the top centre button). After a few seconds the TV standby button will flash red twice. Now release both buttons.

    3. Within one minute, enter the brand code of your television using the numbers the Horizon TV remote control.

    4. To confirm the pairing has been successful switch on the television set using the TV standby button on the Horizon TV remote control.

Important: To complete the pairing, press and keep holding the VOL- button and press the source button at the same time to save the code. After a maximum of 5 seconds the TV standby button will flash red twice. Your remote is now paired.

Note: If the pairing has been unsuccessful, Press "VOL-" and keep the button pressed; then press the source button simultaneously (top centre button). After approximately 5 seconds the TV standby button will flash red twice. Now release both buttons and type in 981, this will un-pair the remote. Repeat the pairing process from Step 1.

    Try the following codes
    Philips 2195
    Vestel 3148

    Not a chance.

    It's not a Vestel.

But Sharp in Europe is owned by UMC
(elsewhere it's Foxconn so US info won't apply)

I can use the remote of a 2008 Humax satellite box to control a BluRay player via a Vestel 4K TV.

Blaupunkt is a vestel brand that uses IR but Sharp have a proprietary 2.4GHz system. So infrared can't work.

In the future, Sky should launch remote controls using ‘RF’ technology which will mean you will be able to use a Sky Remote to operate the basic functions of any new Sharp TV. (as well as most other premium brands).
I'm calling BS on that because Virgin remotes have had RF for yonks but aren't supported.

I've been able to stick a Raspberry Pi on an older Sharp and use CEC to send a limited subset of commands to it over HDMI. On/Off , Volume and Source, but it ignored change channel so without the original remote it's a monitor. TBH you could set it to turn on/off on HDMI input or a fiver will get you a HDMI switch that will jump to the next active source, but won't pass CEC commands.

If it's a newer Sharp it'll be "Smart" and there might be an app.

You could buy an additional remote here.
