I was thinking of bringing my wife to Paris for a few days just after Christmas or around New Years Eve. The flights seem reasonable.
What is Paris like at that time? Are the attractions open? Are the hotels expensive etc?

I was in Paris on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day with my wife.

There is a great vibe on New Year's Eve. The attractions should be open.

Many Parisians then flock to the Champs Elysees to ring in the New Year and drink champagne. It's very pleasant. The metro is choc-a-bloc like Tokyo or Calcutta.

New Year's Day is surreal. It's like the start of '28 Days Later'. The streets are completely deserted. No cars. No pedestrians. You feel like the only person alive. It took us an hour to find a restaurant open.
