    Ok, i just replaced my fridge. Hotpoint for zanussi

    On monday last week my dishwasher stopped heating and drying. 75 euro call out charge to tell me control panel wasn't working and would cost too much to replace. Back to power city (incidentally a lot cheaper than did...which is what i would have preferred)... new one bought and installed by weds. Hotpoint for zanussi.

    Today gas boiler service. Guy tells me control panel gone...so no point in servicing.

    I know this might sound ridiculous but these three appliances are all on the same fuse circuit. My washing machine and lights are on a different one. Is it possible that this could affect performance? The gas guy said a power outage could affect this. I was away for a month and my dad decided to turn off the power...so could this have affected it?

    Oh, yeah (and not related) the clutch in my car went...

    What were the time periods between them all going? What ages were they?
    Id say its not a coincidence... post this in the electrical forum and you might get more answers.

    That sounds like there could be an intermittent connection on the mains on that circuit causing the premature demise of the electronics.

    I would suggest the OP opens a new thread in electrical and get an electrician to check the wiring.

    It's not unusual for several appliances to failed within a few weeks. When you buy a new home or kit out a kitchen you are buy all appliances at the same time. They have an average life span of about 10 years. The older they are the more likely that they will fail around the same time.

    Then again it could be the circuit

    They're all 14 years old...apart from the car!

    There's a known issue with the Zanussi dishwashers, when the heating/drying stops it's because the solder joints on the relay that controls the heating element fall apart. You can open the control panel and re-solder. Had to do it on my own when it was about 9 or 10 years old, been working fine ever since (14 years now). Sound like this was your issue if it was still working otherwise.

    For the gas boiler is it the timer/thermostat that's gone or the boiler itself. It shouldn't cost much to replace a timer/thermostat, if you buy the same one you can just swop them over using the same connection plate, just make sure you disconnect the power first. I also had this issue not too long ago.

    Have seen this numerous times also. Check for dry solder joints on the PCB where the relay contacts for the heater element are and repair as SemperFidelis says above

    Check main PCB for anything that looks like this;
