13 years since I was last in Berlin, so hazy memory.

Any recommendations for a casual but tidy hostel with private rooms in Berlin? I haven't a preference on location, but from memory being close to Alexanderplaz made sense.

I'm bringing the oul lad (70 years) so I don't want to be far from an S-Bahn. Reason for hostel preference is i'd like to stay somewhere sociable (we love to talk nonsense to strangers!)

Flying into Schoenfeld so again be nice to be close to an S-Bahn.

    Thanks all :)

PS. Not that it really matters, but staying Oct 10 - 14.

The only hostels I know in that area are CityStay and one80 - dunno if they do private rooms, only stayed in the 180 (remember it beign nice, but it was a few years ago).

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

+1 for Generator. There's one in Dublin and it looks more hotel than hostel

Generator doesn't seem to have any private rooms for those dates :(

I'm starting to get worried - been Googling all morning and no joy!

I've no specific recommendations but have a look around on hostelworld.com, there's an option to filter the results by room type.

    So I booked here: http://uinnberlinhostel.com/

2 x private rooms worked out at 500 eur for the 4 nights so seems a reasonable deal.

Also it's beside the SBahn which suits my father.

I can cancel before Oct 3 for free so if anyone knows of another hostel with private rooms that may be better, please do let me know!

Meininger Berlin central station is a hotel/ hostel mix. Private rooms and dorms. Big kitchen downstairs with benches to sit with others and a bar in the evening, very easy to get chatting to people. It's right beside the main station and 5 minute walk from the Brandenburg gate.

They have a few other locations in Berlin, I don't know if they are set up the same way, but take a look at the reviews, they might suit.
