Visa Advice - long distance relationship

I am Irish and I am currently studying a postgraduate in Ireland and will be finishing in the summer of 2018. I'll be applying to get the one year working visa for the US.

I'm also currently in a long distance relationship with a guy from Boston, Massachusetts. I have visited him in America twice now and will be again at Christmas.

Should I be honest with the US embassy about our relationship? I am worried that they will think this is a reason for me to stay illegally after the visa expires. I'm not sure if I will have strong evidence of economic ties to Ireland other than my family and that I hope to go on to study a PHD once I return.

Looking for any advice or anyone with similar experiences.

    Lizzy

Yup, always be honest with them, from a similar experience they build up a profile of answers over time and it's best not to to give yourself any potential to trip yourself up. Give them all the info they ask regarding addresses, phone numbers while in US. Any evidence of ties you can show, even ownership of a car, insurance policy, name on a property, etc. is going to help. Maybe a reference from an employer saying there's a job for you on your return (possibly a long shot I know...) or any correspondence with a uni you might be able to build up regarding a possible PHD.
