Hey, I'm looking for some recommendations on cat litter for two maine coons and a persian. Used to use a wood based litter because I had a compost heap for it out the back, but moved house a few weeks ago and that's no longer an option. Switched to Tigerino baby powder scent litter but it's sticking to the bottom of their feet and ending up all over the floor. Does anyone have any good recommendations for one to try out instead?

Litter made from silica gel, also known as crystal cat litter, is the only litter that never stuck to my long haired cat.

It's also fantastic for smells, way better than anything else we've ever used.

The main disadvantage is that it's not biodegradable. Since he passed away, we've switched to a great compostable litter for our other cats but I wouldn't recommend it for a long haired cat.

I've also got 2 coons along with 3 other long haired cats (and 4 short hairs!) silica cat litter is the best way to go. Mind you, it does track as much as other litters, it just doesn't stick to them as much. If you are putting it in the bin, the wood litter is still way lighter than the alternatives.

I also recommend silica for long haired cats

I prefer to buy this one, it's a finer silica and seems to be more absorbent compared to the larger silica types. Silica never smells as bad as the clumping types either.

I picked up a bag of silica crystals and so far so good. It's a bit manky when they pee and it goes all yellow but no litter stuck on paws and waaaaaaay less odour so far so good! Thanks everyone for the recommendations
