About 10 years ago or maybe more, Galway played Tipp in senior hurling in the CHAMPIONSHIP in pearse stadium in Salthill.

can anyone recall what year this was ?
And what stage of the championship it was?

Would have had to be a qualifier back when they were home or away, I think it was 2003 that they played,it was after Galway beat Clare in Ennis by a point, we bowed out of the championship with a whimper after being in the Final the year before.

According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galway%E2%80%93Tipperary_hurling_rivalry it was played in Croke Park but according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_All-Ireland_Senior_Hurling_Championship it was Salthill, I'd go for Salthill as I can't remember qualifiers being played in Croke Park.

Eoin Kelly broke this young man's heart that day and it didn't recover until September 3rd 2017.

Feck. Didn't think was that long ago. Over 14 years, brrrp, I feel old.
I remember we made a comeback towards the end, but not good enough. And Ollie canning scored a savage point on his "bad" side.

Right, didn't even notice the username. Presumed he meant "we" as in Galway.

Was at it also and as far as I remember Ollie Canning scored a great point and held Owen Kelly scoreless that was where the old wives tale about Kelly arriving home being asked how the game went and saying good he held Ollie to a point . We lost by a point

That was my first ever visit to Galway. The brother-in-law is from Tipp so I went with him to the match.
