Bike wanted for Student

    Young fella going off to college, looking for a bike. I am working on the assumption it will get nicked or lost so looking for something in the reliable beater category (or can be made reliable without too much spend :)). 
    Needs to fit height around 5ft 9. Hybrid or road bike style.

    Dublin work,Meath evenings.
    Budget wise pretty tight say 150.

    Maybe I need to up budget, thinking about smething like a used entry level road bike or cross bike?

    Another option to explore is your LBS - they generally have a shed-load (literally..) of BSO's that they take in trade-in and cannot put in the shop and may be prepared to sell you 'off-book' ie offering no warranty whatsoever.
