My son is in junior cert year and I use the online resource Studyclix.ie, where there is a subject called JUNIOR CERT TECHNOLOGY.

I was told by our school two years ago that it was not possible for a child to study technology for state exams, As it had not yet been introduced into the secondary school curriculum.

Could somebody set me straight on this matter.

Your child's school may not have a staff member qualified to teach it. No school in Ireland offers the full range of subjects and levels to students.

In terms of what is on the course, have a look at some past exams under 'Examination material archive' on examinations.ie .

Technology is definitely a JC (and LC) subject. They must have just meant that the school doesn't offer it.
