My purchase of a new lid is overdue. Is it worth waiting for the deals at NEC show? How good are the deals usually? I'll be looking for flip-front Shoei or Nolan.
Is there a risk of ending-up with a shop-soiled helmet or one that has aged in storage?
Maybe I should check for end-of-season deals with my local fiendly bike shop instead.

I've never been, but you get some good deals here:

Sometimes it's only odd sizes, but reckon I might get something off it soon.

Was all set for a Nolan N104 evo but it didn't have my size, so check if it has your size before you get too excited:

    Thanks C
They are good reductions on the Nolan. No deals on the Shoei. But I want to try them on, in person like! Plus I'm doubtful about the handling of the package by couriers.
By coincidence I had a text yesterday from my local friendly bike shop. Sale on this weekend. Worth a look.

With the sterling as **** as it is now it's definitely worth a look. Should be good savings to be made over buying here and at least you can try them on too.

Yeah, the exchange rate is another factor in my favour. But I am getting a bit impatient now. I should check the list of exhibitors for the NEC show.
Lee Honda had 15% discount today but didn't have my size or colour in the Shoei and don't stock the Nolan I wanted to see.

They had a nice 02 Africa Twin in the showroom. No price tag on it. Seems unusual to trade-in a bike like that. Easy to find a buyer I'd have thought.

Was over at the bike show a few years ago in the NEC and my cousin and I bought 2 C3 Pro's for about €350 ea. at the time (sterling rate wasn't great back then) but it was about €100 cheaper than buying here. Helmet city are there with a big stand with lots of brands incl. Shoei, Nolan, Schuberth, etc....

Always found great deals on helmets at the NEC. Especially the slightly older models that are been cleared off. many a Rossi replica been bought there because they would be so cheap you couldn't leave them behind. They got put away till called into service. My missus says you only have one head, why do you need so many helmets. "Yeah... How many handbags have you got love?"

That's the thing you'll notice with UK and euro dealers (like Motocard). They sell off last years stock to be replaced with new. Helmets here are full price for about 15 years :p

What's the story with bringing a lid back on the plane with Ryanair especially now that the cabin luggage rules have changed?

Do many traders take credit cards at this, or is it mostly a cash business? I assume there's ATM's around the place?

I go back and forth from UK to ROI every 2 weeks with rucksack and helmet with no bother from Ryanair, Aer Lingus or FlyBe.

Cash is king and gives you more haggling power too.

Both. Most have card machines and there are ATMs as well.

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Thanks, that's encouraging. I'd have happily bought locally with 10-15% discount a week ago if the lid with my name on it was in stock.

Remember: Free entry to NEC show if you travel from abroad. Just present your travel ticket on entry - apparently. I've not done it myself.
Ryanair flight cancellations are a bt of a worry though. (Other airlines are available)
