NHi, I'm trying to install a small TV in my bedroom.
I don't know if the TV is saor view compatible (lg 15lc1rb -zg).
    I bought a 2nd hand combi box (alma s2300)
I connected the box to the two spare ports on my sky dish, one cable to the box for the free view channels, and the other cable to the aerial port for saor view
The free view channels are working fine, but there are no Irish channels coming on. I have also tried an indoor aerial, but no joy.
Don't know if it makes any difference, but it says Euro bird 1 is the satellite it is using.
    Thanks for reading.

The Saorview channels require a UHF aerial for reception, the satellite dsh won't receive them. If the indoor aerial doesn't pick them up an external mounted aerial will most likely be required.

Thanks for reply, I am using an old sky dish for saor view reception on the main living room TV, I took off the f connector and put on a coax connector and plugged it into the TV and have perfect saor view reception.

You may be in a very strong reception area and its possible that the cable from the dish to the tv is picking up the channels. To be sure of getting the strongest signal you can pick up an external aerial from an electrical supplier for around €25.00.

If that is the case and there is no aerial at the other end then the cable is acting as an aerial and picking up a strong Saorview signal but this method isn't working for the bedroom.

What is your nearest Saorview transmitter and how far away is it? Use my link above to the coverage checker to find the information.

Truskmore would be the nearest to my house,it would be around 6 or 7 miles away.

Big powerful transmitter, that would explain why the cable on its own is picking up the signal. A basic UHF aerial will do the job, might even work in the attic.

Cheers, wouldn't you think the indoor aerial would pick up the signal from truskmore?
I'm starting to wonder if it's the box at fault, I bought it yesterday on DoneDeal as I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a bedroom tv that will only be used now and again.

Problem solved,I borrowed a plug in aerial and it worked a treat.
Now I have to figure out how to number channels in order of preference.
