So Jaguar has officially announced their first production EV.
    And it's the E-Type Zero.

    220kW (~300hp) AC induction motor
    40kWh pack
    270km real world range
    0-100km/h in 5.5 seconds

Not a one off. They will actually be selling it under the Jaguar Classics brand.

On the negative side, it has J1772, no DC rapid and Piers Morgan likes it.

Electric cars don't normally have gears.

Maybe we should have a thread for exotic / classic cars converted to EV. A most lucrative business in the US, and there are many successfully converted cars out there. No doubt this trend will be coming our way too eventually.

    ......

That's an automatic selector - that kind of automatic belongs in a forklift or something, gruesome pos

wtf were they thinking putting it in an etype anyway ?

I'm not their target market, that's for sure.

Great opportunity missed by designers, with the introduction of EVs, Zoe almost indistinguishable from a Clio, with Leaf now 7 years old. Even Tesla not really a head Turner, and similar to the Mazda RX 8?
" Who killed the electric car" the story of GMs EV 1, a cute two seater sports car , we haven't seen them since, pity.

TBF most people don't want their car to be distinguishable by fuel type. I don't want to look at a can "know" it's an EV because of its looks. The Leaf 2 is pretty "normal" looking. That's a big reason why it will sell better.

Not so much" look at my car it's electric",but more let's start over, where can we put the motor, no more cat or exhaust, starter motor, fuel tank etc,Clean sheet of paper, what can you come up with. I know, let's make it look like a Clio , shame on designers .

I reflect how Nikola Tesla wasn't interested in pursuing his wireless communication around the world, ( some folk still think Marconi invented radio)
Elon Musk owned a Jaguar E type that was always breaking down.
Sometimes smart people don't always join up all the dots. Did we really need valves for 40 years, or could we have thought of joining two cats whiskers, sorry if crossing threads, or loosing some.
