    Hello all,

    Just looking for some advice.

We took over my wives childhood home in 2006 and built on a large extension with planning etc.

Now we are looking at options to make the property bigger for storage etc.

I am wondering do we need to apply for permission to build anything as we have already extended the property or is it just if it goes over a specific size.

I ask as if we can build a small extension without the permission this would be ideal.

Depends on what's on site now and what you have planning for in the first place.

Considering you required planning for the first extension, one could assume that you are already above the exemption limits so you need planning for the next bit.

You need someone to advise on site, they can check site area, extension area and location and determine if any of the exemptions can be used in your case.

assuming by 'large' your extension floor area is in excess of 40m2 then yes you need planning to extend the house further
