Has anybody heard the rumour that an existing Dublin radio station is to be rebranded and relaunched as Virgin radio ?

The company who owns the licence in the UK for the name owns two stations in Dublin. That may be the entire basis to the rumour.

    https://www.wirelessgroup.co.uk/home/

If its true, its unlikely to be anything other than one of those two.

I can see that happening, it's not the worst idea in the world. They would also gain because of the Virgin name in all the Virgin Media advertising over here.

You'll also gain Virgin Media's rotten customer service and hardware quality reputations.

Both Q102 and FM104 already have strong brand names so I would be surprised if either changed

4FM? Wouldn't be the worst idea.

For as long as I can remember there has been a permanent rumour of the Virgin name been attached onto a station on Dublin. FM104 has always been the one that's most attached to any such rumour but given it's sure cash rich status and super ratings, why would it be renamed?

Would be rather odd considering the existing licencing arrangements but weirder things have happened.

98fm has been floundering for a decade now - going as low as 4th and is stuck below its sister station; expensive presenter lineups that flopped and bought in shows have done nothing for it. But I can't see how aligning yourself to a brand that is effectively toxic could possibly help more

Is the brand really that toxic ? 98FM are floundering badly and need a major shake up
