Hi all. Anyone living in a duplex on the park have an attic conversion? Are they allowed? Had a guy around today and was told they needed to raise the roof.... to make it a dormer. Am i allowed to do this? Has anyone else on this side of the estate done one?? I saw a duplex for sale in the court with the attic done...but they are built different.

Gutted if It can't be done !

    All insight appreciated

First off, you need management company approval.
You may or may not own the attic space.

    Then you need planning permission.
Then you need a fire safety Cert and disabled access Cert as this is an alteration to a building containing flats (duplexes are classed as flats under the building control regulations).
You then appoint an assigned certified to oversee the works and sign off.

This is not a typical attic conversion and the above processes may stand you 10k before you even lift a roof tile.
