Plugins not downloading/unpacking Wordpress

    Hi folks

Doing a new site on WP at the mo and I'm having trouble specifically with Yoast SEO and WooCommerce plugins where I'm getting the 'fatal error..30 seconds exceeded' message.

Now this has happened in the past for me, but usually a simple refresh does the job.

This is constant though and causing me grief. Internet speeds here aren't awful (5 MB download) so could it still be that?

Is there a way to override this message?

I also manually downloaded the files but can't remember what do do from when I have them in WinRAR cause I've never had to upload a plugin that way

    Cheers

Just FYI: It's not always the line below (462) that's the problem. Just now trying again it's line 81

Can you ask you host to increase the timeout from 30 seconds?

I haven't uploaded the site just yet.

I have the site bought with the crowd in Waterford but haven't yet. Think that might work though? I'll try if so

Increase the php script timeout on your local machine if you're running WP locally.

Download the zipped file (not using wordPress). Copy zipped file to your local plugins folder. Unzip the file.
Login to your local WordPress site and go to plugins. The plugin should be there ready to activate.

I suspect the package hadn't finished downloading as the error specifically mentions cURL.php

    Cool - I'll try that.

I wasn't sure how to manually do it, thank you

It will still be worth you increasing the script timeout otherwise you're likely to keep hitting the same error every time you try to install/update a plugin or update WordPress.

I'll definitely do that - Cheers

I'll use those links you gave me to extend the time allowed fingers crossed

Look for a line in your php.ini that looks something like max_execution_time=30

It's definitely just down to internet speed anyway I'd say because I just got Yoast downloaded on the laptop from work's WiFi instead of home.

Still can't get WooCommerce - Getting the same errors.. I can't find the php.ihi file at all anywhere and am still struggling the manually upload it haha!

    Never had these issues before
