Mobile Broadband

    Hi,
I currently have broadband through Vodafone which is very poor as my house is a 3/4 miles from the nearest exchange. The maximum I can get is 2 Mbps and even at this at certain times of the day download speeds are crawling I presume due to more traffic on the line. I will have the same problem if I switch to Eir, Sky etc. are these use the same phone lines. I am think of switching to Mobile Broadband as I am in a 4G area or else getting Satellite Broadband. I would prefer to avoid Satellite broadband as it will involve putting up a mask at the side of the house and bringing cables down from the attic. Anyone any experience of mobile broadband? Is it reliable? Any pitfalls?

I use three for my mobile broadband. It is in fact the only "broadband" we have in the house due to our location.

I get an average of 8-9 download speed, and put about 300 GB a month through it.

Just on a pre pay sim card. €20 top up a month. It works well for me, but its not suitable for everyone.

Beware of signing up to a mobile broadband plan. The charges for usage outside your allowance are bordering on criminal.

Not all of them, Vodafone will cut you off, Three will charge you to a max of 80 Euro

I am in a similar situation, is it worth it using a 4g data sim in a mifi dongle for various gadgets to hook up on wifi around the house?
