Hillwalking/hiking/mountaineering advice

I've been doing a spot of Mountain walking the past year and I'm seeking some advice re maps.

I generally use 'viewranger' on my phone to navigate and sometimes bring printed copies of way-marked loops with me. But I would like to source something more reliable and detailed should my phone give up mid walk (especially on the non way-marked routes). Any advice on how/where to locate these? I have a compass as well that I have yet to use!

    Thanks in advance.
