fingal housing list

I was just wondering if anyone has any idea how long it is taking to get a council house these days. I am presuming with the housing crises it is much slower but I can't find out any info online. the fingal website just says a minimum of 7 years.
we have been on the list over 7 years now and as of January we were ranked somewhere around 450 on the list. can we e expect to wait another year or another 5?
also does anyone out there know if you are on HAP are you taken off the list?

still a ways to go yet then.

I believe you can but you only have a short time period to request to stay on the list when you get hap ,
Just check with fingal county council to to be sure first ,

We're on the list coming up on 6 years and are still up in the 1000's number wise. Was talking to a councillor the other day and he said we'll be at least another ten years waiting.

Just trucking along hoping our situation changes soon and we can buy a house sooner... (also upskilling etc to ensure we can actually afford and not just hoping against hope!)

that is disgraceful. that's 16 years in total. but at the rate that the council are building at the moment I can understand why.

I remember talking to a housing officer for clondalkin about 3 years back and he claimed some local authorities were only in single figures for people given properties over a 4 year period because there was simply no stock ,

Yet people in hotels and b&bs were turning down multiple offers,

Apologies for the rant wasn't meant as a rant .

There's a house boarded up two doors down from me and it has been completed since February. And it's still vacant.

I know the council keep a number of houses boarded up for use I emergency cases, like after a family looses a home to fire.

That's not true, I know a few families who have lost their homes to fire and haven't been offered an alternative house that had been left boarded up.

In fact, the house that's boarded up actually caught fire before Christmas and that didn't happen to the family who lost their house.

that's what I always heard. bloody he'll then why are there so many houses boarded up for so long. I get that they have to make sure they are up to a certain standard and the council sends everything out to tender but i know of houses that have been boarded up for well past 12 months.
