Transferring PRSI Stamps

Hi All,
Can anyone provide any assistance or point me in the direction for some online resources on transferring my Irish PRSI Stamps / Contributions to the UK ? Or is this even possible ? 
When my now wife moved from the UK to Ireland she was able to transfer her UK contributions to Ireland , but now we have moved back we want to do the opposite.
DWP and Job Centre are so far worthless to provide any assistance ( various people there have already told us things like the the Republic of Ireland in the UK , Is part of Northern Ireland , Is not in the EEA , The Common Travel Area .. whats that !!!)

I moved to the UK in 2010 and I went to JobCentre to see if I could sign on (never did before anywhere so it was a new experience) and I asked about transferring from Ireland.

They looked at me like I had 6 heads. Now either they were utterly clueless or just playing dumb- a bit of both IMO.

I found myself actually explaining their own job back to them and I was getting annoyed. I do recall the lady saying:

"Hopefully, you shouldn't be with us too long." as I was the most qualified person she had ever interviewed- sort of back handed compliment. Yes, I probably the only person in the building with a few degrees and a professional qualification.

I was turned down because I had made no national insurance contributions (PRSI) in the UK which was hardly ground breaking as I had never worked in the UK.

I got back into work pretty much straight away and have never claimed any sort of benefits so I never followed it up.

Health Warning- the JobCentre do not make it easy and the staff are probably the most unhelpful bunch of pen pushers you will ever meet.

They will just keep pushing papers at you to fill out all day long.

From memory and this is from 2010 so I don't know the current position, I believe there is a mechanism to get credit for PRSI but you will have to do all the work and go in armed to the hilt with the info.

Otherwise, they will just ignore it. You will get turned down and then you will be given the option to appeal which will take 5-6 months so you will be stoney broke during that time and hopefully as far as the JobCentre is concerned you will have ****ed off back into the workforce- job done for them.

Do not expect any favours or help from them- they are not there to help you. Just remember that....:cool:

Got in touch with the pensions crowd and they can't help until just immediately before my retirement date!

Actually, The Citizens Information Link actually holds the key, what I needed is form E104 to get the process underway.
