What is the best car for driver legroom?

I currently drive a 08 Toyota avensis which is reasonably roomy but the seat just doesn't go back for enough for me. I'm 6'2" and I've never had a car where I could push the seat back that far that I couldn't push the clutch down all the way. I'm looking into changing at the moment and I have been told the Skoda Superb is the best for driver legroom so that is on the list to test drive. From your experience whats the best car for driver legroom? I had a Ford Focus before the avensis and the legroom was pretty much the same for the driver.

Passats are grand, brother is 6'3 and are no bother. I assume Seat, vw, Skoda, Audi would be similar in that the driver seat goes back a bit and as you lower the height adjustment it also goes back

New Mondeo is very good for legroom.

Skoda Superb has the longest legroom of any family saloon/estate car, unless you go for LWB versions of Mercedes SClass or BMW 7Series.

*this is based purely on my opinion, and may not be wholly accurate. Open to correction.

Just got a Superb for the OH and it is incredible, so much space it is laughable, boot is huge too. If max space if what you are looking for look no further. Not a one trick pony either, it is brilliant all round.

What else do you like about it? How is it on diesel?

I'm 6'4 & have owned 3 series BMW's, mk5 golf, passats etc and surprisingly the golf had the best driver leg room plus lots of space in the back even with me driving. Hatchbacks don't have to push the back seats forward for headroom so usually have decent legroom.

The thing I like most is that it is a petrol. :)

150bhp DSG, fast, silent and frugal, 6.7l/100. When I replace my (petrol) Passat it will be with this.

I have a 2011 Superb, 1.6 Diesel. While it doesn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, it quick enough for overtaking. It's a general commute bus, achieving between 50 to 60mpg.

I just assumed diesel as there is very few petrol cars on the road in Ireland now!

Would you say its a bit under powered? I was thinking that engine is a bit too small for a car of that size?

I'm in the Octavia and at 6 2" i don't need to have the seat set all the way. The same applies in the Fabia which is great for a car of that size.

I seem to have longer legs than most people of the same height as i have driven Octavia's and the seat wouldn't go back far enough for me!!!

it's 105bhp, and it has a bit of pull if you floor it. It tops out at 120mph, and does fine at overtaking. I was buying with economy in mind, but there is some power there, it isn't slow. I would recommend test driving one at the least, you'd be surprised, and it goes on a sniff. I'd manage easily 200+ mile trip for €20.

6' 4" and have a 2010 Superb Estate, lots of legroom and even with the seat all the way back I can sit behind the drivers seat so loads of room for rear passengers. Hard to compete with if you need room in the back also.

Most German cars are workable from my experience with the seat all the way back but in most cases that leaves little or no space for rear seat passengers.

Yep agree with all the Superb comments... Friend has one and he's quite tall and has a almost lying down driving position his seat is very tilted back..  still loads of space behind him for rear passengers. You definitely feel more cramped in other cars - say a6 or e class. I think those have a more envelop the passenger approach to space than the wide open spaces in a superb
