    Greetings,
Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this. If you know of a better section, please point me that way!
The story: I'm an Irish citizen, my fiancé is from the US. We both currently live in Japan. We're getting married in Ireland in April 2018, and plan to stay there afterwards.
Do any of you have any idea what sorts of VISAs we need to look into? I've been researching myself, but I'm honestly getting kind of confused by how much information I've found. Big thanks for any help!

When you say you're planning to 'stay' afterwards, do you mean on holiday, or to live? I would imagine your fiancé would need a tourist visa if you're just planning to holiday together, and I would think it's as straightforward as that, since you presumably will just be coming home on your Irish passport.

I don't know if you have all the answers you need with regard to getting a marriage licence etc. or if you're just looking for visa advice.

Your future spouse as a USA citizen does not require a visa to enter Ireland. He/She can enter for 90 days.

What you are talking about is a permission to reside. You will be looking for a Stamp 4 as the spouse of a Irish citizen. You will need to contact Garda immigration officer once you are married. Some light reading http://www.inis.gov.ie/en/INIS/Family%20Reunification%20Policy%20Document.pdf/Files/Family%20Reunification%20Policy%20Document.pdf

My understanding is as a US national the process should be relatively painless. But that may change or have changed.
