    Hi folks
I have a 135 in good condition and yould use it for a bit of roadwork moving equipment between farms great wee machines and run on fumes but the brakes are woefull.
Has anyone here ever fitted a square back axle (wet brakes) to one? Or point in the direction of finding one.

I not too sure, but I think the 35, 135 round axle is a different setup to the 165 round axle that has the dry brakes. We got that setup changed to square axle successfully bolt on job.

What kind of loads are you pulling? The 135's brakes are adequate for most jobs they are used for these days provided they are in good condition and correctly adjusted.

But to answer your question; Standard 135's we're never fitted with wet or dry disk brakes. The closest tractors with disk brakes are probably the industrial models like the MF40. While the square Axel's will fit the 135 you will create 2 new problems,1 the square Axel's are longer which will make your tractor wider and 2 they have reduction hubs which will make your gear ratios wrong and make your nippy 135 crawl.

So you would need to replace the gear box or modify the axles to remove the reduction hubs. You will also need to replace the wheels / tyres for wider ones as the narrow 135 wheels will look ridiculous on your new wider tractor.

Would be much easier to trade your MF135 for a MF40 tractor (clutch model as tourque models are slow on the road).

    Thanks for the reply.
Normally just empty dumptrailer, or empty slurry tanker between farms.
Brakes are ok when good but they can get very hard to use with lack of use.

Yes, if not used inside of drums can rust.
But also biggest issue with inadequate brakes I see is most lads renew the pads but ignore issues with play in linkages and worn bushes where the actuaters enter the hub.

If it's just seized, oil and or heat maybe some tapping. Probably best to remove from tractor and work with it in a vice.

    If more serious:
