Nissan Qashqai opinions

    Hi there,

I am looking at buying a Nissan Qashqai, drove it today and really liked the car and it had a great spec and decent price. I've been admiring them for ages but in the back of my mind theresults always something saying it's a family car!
Is it a Mammy wagon (no offence at all intended to Mammies, I just am not a mammy yet and don't want to jump ahead of myself!!!)

    What would people's thoughts be?
    Thank you in advance!!!

It's a misguided Mammys car. I wouldn't be in to the whole SUV craze at the moment. If you genuinely like it over an equivalently priced saloon/hatchback then go for it.
Only reason to do that would be for it's styling (which is subjective and each to their own on that) and it's higher driving position if you like that.

Buy it because you like it. Don't mind what others say.

That's good advice... When I bought my automatic Octavia people thought I was daft. Dealer said don't mind what other people think. You be the one driving the car. Best decision I ever made. Love driving an auto.

Plus it's much easier to get kids in and out of and kids love the high seating.

Thanks a mil bmwguy, much appreciated. I would prefer a golf or A3 but I'm tall with long legs and have found both to be a bit tight for me, which is possibly why I'm leaning towards the space and height in the qashqai.
    Thanks again ðŸ‘

My OH has one (yes she is a mammy) and she loves it. Very comfortable to drive, lots of space and while the 1.5 diesel lacks a little power at times (in my opinion), it is very cost efficient to run.

If you like it, buy it!

Try the Renault Kadjar while you're shopping as it has the underpinnings of the Qashqai.

Just something to consider if you're looking at a second hand car; the clutch seems to be a common problem area with Qashqai's so you might want to google it. Had an 09 Qashqai with less than 40k on it that needed a replacement clutch = unpleasant & unexpected €ost.

What model/year etc are you looking at...?

Thanks folks for the input, really appreciate it.

It's a 161 1.5l hopefully if I can stretch the budget to it! The garage are phoning me with definite price this week as the car had literally just arrived into them the day I spotted it in their yard!

Have you considered being anonymous with the Hyundai Tucson or it's sister Kia Sportage?
This month or October/November is the best month to get good deals on ex rental cars.

I wonder how cheap the ex rentals are given the big trade and upgrade/scrappage deals on new ones earlier this year.

Amazing how often that happens at dealers. ;)

Keep in mind the facelift has just arrived so make sure you get a good deal on the older version.

Ex Rental cars are highly profitable for dealers even more so than new car orders given the tight margins on new cars. Rental cars are highly discounted by the future contract buy back schemes that operate between car dealers and rental companies.

Keep in mind also that not everyone has a scrappage car to take advantage of these scrappage schemes. Plus the ex rental car with a couple of 1000km less than 6 months old and no waiting time!

I bought a Ford Kuga last year and got a lot more (spec/car) for my money from Ford than from Nissan. Worth having a look at a Kuga Titanium Plus model

More of a bargaining tool if you're buying a new pre face lift versus a post.

My wife is on her second (last model and current) no issues, plenty of room (although you wouldn't comfortably fit 3 child seats), boot is grand but no different to a normal hatch IMO.

Is it a bit bigger than a Golf or Focus etc - yes.
