Any recommendations for a good photo book service? I want a hardback book for my portraits.

There do be lots of groupon type deals most days. try dealpage.ie which amalgamates all the deals.

Camera centre (there are a few branches) do a few nice hardback albums that would probably suit you. Up to A3 size as far as I can remember and around €90

A few people I know swear by Aldi, I have never used them other than for some cheap prints and they have been fine.
I have used Blurb on a few occasions and found their quality excellent, their software is user friendly.
The trick is finding and using the discount codes.

Yes but Graphistudio will only supply professional photographers??

I actually recommended this in another thread (in wedding forum) the other day... Artifact Uprising. They don't require you to be a professional and their quality is stunning. Only potential hiccup is that they closed their EU base so only ship out of the US now. A year ago (when I made my last order) the shipping rates were crazy high but they gave me free shipping when I contacted them about it and told me they were working on getting more reasonable carriers for their international shipping.

I've used photobox my A4 photobooks for a number of years and I've been happy with the results.

    Disclosure: I'm not a professional

I have a Nikon DSLR with some reasonably nice glass so I do appreciate a nice image.

Not true. Anyway what makes a pro photographer, not being smart as I have a friend who got his brother an album from this company

    I just bought 2 on a groupon deal. 40 page A4 for €20.
There was a "new customer" code to give 25% off

A pro photographer is someone who makes a full time living from photography. I applied for access to trade pricing and to order some samples and had to provide vat number and details of my company so I think they do check this out before letting joe bloggs order their products. Most people would have no knowledge of how to design the layout properly or understand the difference between the various paper types etc they offer.

What he said. You need to show that you are a professional photographer (company name, website is the typical minimum).

TBH, I'm not entirely sure why they operate like this. A customer is a customer...no? There must be some reason... I just don't know what it is :o Maybe, as Homer suggests, there's extra support overhead dealing with non-professionals that is just a time/money pit for these printers.
