Can't access Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk

I have been having a problem accessing Amazon for a couple of months. I could access amazon.com, but not able to amazon.co.uk. Then I noticed that if I logged into Getflix first, I could then load amazon.co.uk.

For the last week or so I can't access either the US or the UK site. It doesn't matter whether I'm logged into getflix or not. I've no problems with any other site. I just checked and see that I can access amazon.it and amazon.fr.

Anyone else have any experience of this or able to offer some advice?

Is this from work or home?
    What error do you see?
Have you checked your DNS settings?
    Which provider are you with?
    ...

This is from home. The problem is on my PC w Windows 10 ver 1703.

My provider is Vodafone. There's no problem accessing Amazon from my phone or laptop on the same network.

When I try to load Amazon.com, at the bottom of the page I see: "waiting for www.amazon.com" followed by "connecting to www.amazon.com", this takes about three minutes. Then I get
    The connection has timed out
The server at www.amazon.com is taking too long to respond.
    • The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
    • If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
    • If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.
I don't know how to check my DNS.

leck is it happening with all browsers? FF , Chrome etc?

Can you ping the amazon sites from the commandline ?

Also do you have anti-virus installed ? Some AV suites allow sites to be blocked.

Yes, happening with FF, Chrome and IE.

I can ping amazon.com from command prompt. See previous post. One failed attempt at amazon.co.uk, then it worked later.

My AV is Malwarebytes Premium. I also notice Windows Defender is running, not sure if it should be on too.

Leck , going from what Ed E it looks like Getflix could be causing the issue.

You should check your DNS settings.

Run this in the commandline window and it should give you some information.
    echo exit | nslookup

it should give you the DNS server and it's ip address.

you can try googles DNS servers.Follow this link to see how to change DNS servers(make notes of what you change so you can revert back)The ip addresses for the 2 servers are 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

I've also gone to Wi-Fi Properties ->Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6) -> Properties. This is set to Obtain an IPv6 address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically.

Your suggestion and that in the link yoiu posted is to set the Preferred and Alternate DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. I get "The DNS server 8.8.8.8 is not a valid IP address."

You seem to be mixing ipv4 and ipv6. Are you configured with ipv6 from VF?

    What does this return?

    aha.

Not sure if there's anything I shouldn't post here (is it like giving someone the keys to the house?), but what it says is:

Your IPv4 address on the public Internet appears to be 109.76.238.203
Your IPv6 address on the public Internet appears to be 2001:0:9d38:6abd:1476:2a1f:92b3:1134
Your IPv6 service appears to be: Teredo

Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) appears to be VODAFONE-IRELAND-ASN, IE

Your IPv6 connection appears to be using Teredo, a type of IPv4/IPv6 gateway. Your particular teredo configuration is only used as a protocol of last resort. When visiting a site with both IPv4 and IPv6, IPv4 will be preferred.
To ensure the best Internet performance and connectivity, ask your ISP about native IPv6.
Your DNS server (possibly run by your ISP) appears to have IPv6 Internet access.

So you appear to be on ipv6 and Getflix doesn't support it. There are a couple of support articles on Getflix to explain this.

    I think it's fixed!

I went into TCP/IPv4 Properties. DNS server addresses were set to 54.72.70.84 and 212.71.249.225. I set it to Obtain DNS server address automatically.

    I can load amazon.com and amazon.co.uk now.
