    Hey

So I bought a recurve bow last week, it a Rex 20-65lb

I have a few questions I was hoping you guys could help me with.

Whats you opinion on arrows from china, and what arrows are best to begin with. I have murdered 11 arrows on my first day - 2 carbon and 9 wooden, with the 2 carbon ones the ones I started with and the last ones I had, which tells me quality arrows are a good thing.

I heard someone mention aluminium arrows - whats the deal with them, and are fiberglass any good? Essentially, what arrows should I be purchasing!

Whats a good starting target distance - Im currently at 15 meters/yards (big steps) and hitting it most of the time am I too close/far - Perfect??

Anyone recommend any good beginner videos on youtube to save me sifting through the rubbish.

Any recommendations on anything at all I should be doing?? What things did you discover while you were learning that no one told you about?

    Thanks in advance.

from the sounds of it the Rex is a compound bow no? (it had wheels on the ends?). Unless youre referring to teh KAP t-rex recurve?

anyways, Your profile says you're in Carlow. Contact dolmen archers http://dolmenarchers.com/and see when they're next running a beginners course.

Theres no point in learning archery through youtube videos and fecking around in your back garden, there really is more to it than that.

I'd agree with Bugs, above. You can't be given all the info you need through the internet. Even arrow choice is more than a matter of what material is best. A 65 lb compound is too heavy to start out with, if set at that. That's a hunting weight compound for big game in the States.
Archery is good fun and a lot of that is the people you meet. Join a club, it will be worth the effort it may take, and if may save you from some horrific injuries.
