Roughly, what are the chances, or what percentage of customer subscribing to these fibre broadband packages with the "up to" rider on it do truly get a 100Mb service ? Anyone know ?

It's down to distance, beside the exchange you get 100mbit on eFibre, 2000m away from it you'll get nothing and will have to stay in the old ADSL

About 600 meters from cabinet getting about 75 wifi and wired about 90 so happy enough, strangely enough my mother is about 30 meters from a cabinet is getting significantly less , must be down to her Rueter or something..

or she's connected to a different cab or the exchange, not everyone is connected to the nearest cab. Could also be a fault on the line from the cab.

I'm 1.5~1.6km from the cab and I get 30/3 (it could be 34/3 but its profiled down to 30). I believe that graph is for VDSL2 non-vectored which most if not all Eir's VDSL2 cabs are now VDSL2 vectored. From memory, before they enabled vectoring on the cab, I was on about 12 down

Could be the line as she is an older house...definitely connected to same cab, she's not to pushed about it anything over 10 is enough for her needs..

Non-vectored VDSL is up to 1500m, vectored VDSL is to 2000m

The image is for vectored bringing it to the full 100mbit

It's better to be cautious than have an unstable connection

I do get a drop out every 2 or so weeks but outside of that I've SamKnows data which shows a stable download speed.

Could the house and line be older than the cab, not unknown for lines to pass the nearest cab to all the way back to the exchange with the cab being installed later but older lines not being connected? How far away is the exchange?

House and line definitely older than the cab, exchange is about 1.5 mile away...they definitely said she was connected to the nearby cab and that she should be getting the up to the 100 limit..
She pays less now than she used too so she hasn't questioned it...

So as a rough estimate, taking all those inside a 350m circle to be about 3% of all those inside a 2000m circle, allowing for not all within the 350m circle truly getting the 100Mb, and that there may be cabinets closer than 2000m to each other, on balance would 2%-3% of customers be getting the full speed be reasonable ?
Do the providers issue any stats on this ?

Who were they, the technician or sales?

Both, I checked her number and address as well on the eir website and it's coming back as capable of up to 100...
To be honest I wouldn't believe a word from a sales agent especially when speaking to a 65 year who in all honesty hasn't a clue about tech

Living 400 meters away in a small town in west cork. Using Sky fibre. Getting 92 down and 16 up.

    Pretty reliable actually too!
