    Hello all,

My first time posting here so take it easy on me!

    Today I came across this.

    http://www.electricautos.ie/vehicles/renault/zoe/kildare/1824730

I had never really considered an electric car second hand as I had thoughtlessly assumed that there wasn't much of a second hand market. I was shocked (hence thread title :D) to see a price of 8k (ish) for a 2015 yoke.

Am I missing something? Did I hear something about battery rental before?

There is a per month battery rental figure that has to be paid on top of that price.

It seems to be only Zoe's(and some Leaf's called Flex) that have it. Most EV's(Leaf, i3, Tesla etc) you buy outright and thats it.

Too good to be true so. I knew it.

Any idea how much this rent is?

I dont, but in the region of €50-€100 per month. Someone will be along to give the correct figure.

Thank you both. I was googling away in the background but that's what I was failing to find.

    What happens after 36 months?

Think, Renault only replace defective modules/ cells, not a new battery if it drops to 70% capacity .Battery rental on basic Zoe around £80/ month, steep, but a replacement battery around £4k.
There's also a battery upgrade scheme around £ 3 k for a range they say of 200 km.

80 a month kinda negates the savings though.

There are a few used Leafs out there around the 2012 year for 6-7k. You want an Acenta, or Tekna (SV or SVE) model.

If you are willing to spend a little more...around 10k, you'll pick up something pretty decent, especially if you travel to the UK. No VAT...and you won't pay VRT either. There are a couple of Leafs in the bargain thread here for good prices. Take a look.
