    Hello,

I recently acquired a site from an aunt. I did not pay for the site but due to the difference in value from when my aunt acquired the land and gifted to me it has increased in value so she is now liable for CGT. I am going to pay this for her so how to I go about this? The solicitor that was dealing with the transfer informed me that i need an accountant to do the payment. Is this correct? Or can I do it myself directly with revenue?

As the aunt makes the gain, she makes the CGT return.

You can then pay her the equivalent amount.

    AFAIK.
